There's all different kind of cardio exercises you can do, but which is best for you?

When i first started at the gym, i only did LISS (Low Intensity Steady State) cardio, my routine was;

30 minutes on the cross trainer,

20 minutes on the rowing machine,

25 minutes on the bike

This type of exercise does work for some people (Lucky buggers) But unfortunately it does not work for 75% of us, so i was stuck in a rut until i came across HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) cardio which instead of lasting for hours and hours i did 15-20 minutes worth of exercise at 100% rather than an hours worth of LISS at 70%.

HIIT aims to burn that stubborn body fat, stop all the boredom of just sitting on a bike for an hour and get your body out of it's comfort zone for just 20 minutes!

I find this type of cardio is perfect for me as i can't get bored as i have to push myself to the limit for nearly the whole duration of the session.

Before you get worried and think 'NO SOUNDS TOO HARD, I CAN'T PUT IN 100% FOR 20 MINUTES'

You're actually only working for about 10 minutes at the most because after each exercise you have a short rest. The aim of HIIT is to get your heart beating more than 120 per minute.

And if you have a gym partner, then you can spur eachother on and after the session is finished, trust me, you'll feel good!

From a personal point, i have lost 5lb in 4 weeks just from adding in the HIIT and i have become alot fitter from doing the different exercises 5 times a week

I have a HIIT programme pack for sale at just £2.00 in the 'shop' section, so if this seems like the thing for you, then this programme is the perfect partner.

Although i said LISS doesn't work for 75% of us, it does work for the other 25% and is nice to add into your routine if you have enough time and your body is still a bit sore from the HIIT the previous day before.

LISS doesn't get your heart pumping like HIIT, but can get your stamina up to a new level and also is easier to do on some of the equpment at the gym than HIIT.

Remember though, you don't need to be at the gym to do either of these cardios, you can easily do these at home or outdoors! You can find some exercise ideas in my 'Home Gym Programme' on my shop page!
