Now a question that is quite frequent in the gym world is "Should i pay more than £50 for a pair of shoes thats just going to get battered?"

 

The answer to that question in my opinion is yes!

 

When I first started running, i just wore normal trainers and a result of this was getting increasing bad heels due to the lack of supports for the soles of my feet so i upgraded to 'gym shoes' when i started the gym. I didn't really think i would get too keen on the gym so i paid £40 for a pair (relatively cheap) and the difference i felt on my feet was amazing! My heels and soles felt relief for the first time in months whilst i was exercising! 

 

Those shoes lasted me about 4-5 months and in that time i started to become keen on the whole gym thing (hence why this blog has been created) and upgraded my shoes to a pair that cost me £75. I can tell you're now looking at your screen in disgust thinking "£75?! I would never pay that amount for a pair that would seemingly last me a few months!!" 

 

Well, you pay for what you get i'm afraid! Even though these cost me a whooping £75, they took comfort to the next level! They're flexible so when i'm doing awkward exercises my shoes do not restrict me and they also have no odour!!

 

You have to take a mental note of the fact gym shoes are good for about 400 miles worth of exercise until they start to lose the will to live.

If you love doing LISS and you're on the tredmill or out running up and down hills for hours on end then you shold consider purchasing new gym shoes every 3-4 months that are of a high quality.

If you tend to stick to just the gym with light cardio or avoid the tredmill altogether then your shoes should last you around 5-6 months.

 

Just remember, you get what you pay for! Buy cheap, expect less comfort!
